Nashua, NH – July 2, 2003 Gambit Communications, a leading network simulation tools provider, today announced the release of MIMIC® Simulator 6.00. With the goal of constantly building upon and improving the management simulation experience, MIMIC 6.00 offers expanded features and increased processing speed, especially when simulating a large numbers of devices. It provides an inexpensive way for enterprises to evaluate management applications and policy scripts prior to deployment; to conduct and practice disaster preparedness and recovery scenarios; to provide operator training; and to plan for future infrastructure growth.

MIMIC Simulator 6.00 offers numerous advances and enhancements.

  • New GUI with ready labs and exercises
  • Support for recording of IPv6 devices
  • Source address indexing - to allow multiple simultaneous virtual networks
        with overlapping addresses to be accessible from different management stations.
  • Enabled for TL1 protocol support
  • New platform support - RedHat 9
  • For IOS Simulator:
        - 200+ new command supported including routing protocol related commands.
        - Many Telnet enhancements - history, hotkeys, piping, interactive commands, and comments.

  • Gambit has also released version 2.00 of it's new product MIMIC Virtual Lab for Cisco. It includes a ready network of Cisco devices supporting Cisco IOS and SNMP protocols.
